I hope everyone is doing well. I have been spending my time at the hospital since my mom had a heart attack almost two weeks ago. I would have never thought that we would be in this position but here we are. So many things we did not know or at least I did not know.
Who knew that having diabetes can affect your kidneys and in turn the heart in the long run. We have been thought so much this past two weeks and we are now going Marie Kondo in our kitchen. At least my sister is while I stay in the hospital with my mom.
There have been so many regrets, so many should of, could of, would of’s that have been going around my mind. But what is done is done and we now have to make sure that my mom will take care of her body as much as she can.
One thing out of all this is that I urge all the women to check their health and to stop minimizing it. My mom felt like she was having heartburn and ignored it for a while. Luckily, we took her to the doctor and he did an EKG on her and immediately sent her to the hospital.
I am not sure why we as women tend to put our health on the backburner, but this needs to stop. We cannot longer ignore our needs, especially our heart. We can be busy all we want, but without our health we have nothing.
Minimizing our symptoms will not help us and it will definitely not help the people around us. Especially if we have children who depend on us.
Your health is extremely important, there is nothing more important in the world that can come before that.
I challenge you this year to stop minimizing your health and start making those appointments that you have been putting on hold because of this or that. Whatever you need to do to make sure your health is in top shape do it!
Remember that you are important, and you deserve the same care that you give to others.
I wish you all good health for the year 2019 and I hope that you take my advice and check on whatever needs to be checked regarding your health.
P.S. Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
